Two cities, two ZIP codes, one number to call

Cedar City and Enoch share the same valley in Iron County, and both use ZIP code 84721. Cedar City also uses 84720. That is why a mailing address alone does not tell you which city handles your water, your permits or your inspections.

Every page linked below describes one place: what to shut off, what to check first and what to have ready when you call. They do not promise an arrival time. They tell you what to do while you wait.

Find your neighborhood, then confirm your ZIP code

  1. Find your neighborhood or city among the places above, and open its page for the details that apply there.
  2. If your street is not named, use your ZIP code: 84720 and 84721 are the codes covered for calls to this number.
  3. If your ZIP is not mentioned here, or you are not sure, call. Do not assume you are out of range.

Neighborhood names are not official boundaries. Two streets in the same subdivision can sit in different ZIP codes, so the street address and ZIP you give on the phone are what count.

Landmarks that help you place your address

The Utah Shakespeare Festival is held on the campus of Southern Utah University, and Frontier Homestead State Park Museum, which tells the story of Cedar City’s iron mission and pioneer years, is in town as well.

If your address is near either one, say so when you call, along with your street and ZIP code. Calls from around both are covered by the same number.

What changes between Cedar City and Enoch

Whose rules apply to your address

Cedar City and Enoch are separate cities. Each runs its own water system, permits and inspections, even though they share a valley and a ZIP code.

Check which city sends your water bill. Questions about a meter, a permit or the water supply go to that city, and your plumber can tell you who to ask.

Water use in Cedar City

Cedar City’s 2024 Water Conservation Plan describes an aquifer in overdraft and monthly meter reads. The city’s watering ordinance, 37-7-1, limits daytime sprinkling from April 1 to October 31 (confirm the current hours with the city).

A leaking sprinkler line wastes water you pay for and water the aquifer cannot spare. The water leak detection page explains how to test your meter before you call.

Plumbing help that applies in every neighborhood

Whichever place you pick, the services are the same. A burst pipe, a sewage backup or a dead water heater is handled the same way whether you live on the west edge of Cedar City or in Enoch, and the pages below explain each one.

Before you call from any address

  • Your street address and ZIP code
  • Whether the problem is water, sewage or a gas smell
  • What you have already shut off
  • Photos of the source and any damage, if you can take them safely

If you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 from outside before you call anyone else.

Service area questions

Which ZIP codes are covered for calls to this number?

Calls to this number are covered for ZIP codes 84720 and 84721. Call with your address and ZIP and the person who answers will confirm.

Do you serve Enoch as well as Cedar City?

Yes. Enoch addresses use ZIP code 84721, which is on the list. Enoch is its own city, so permits and water questions go to Enoch City.

My neighborhood is not on the list. Can I still call?

Yes. The neighborhood pages are the places with enough local detail to write about, not the limit of the area. If your ZIP is 84720 or 84721, call and give your address.

Can you promise how fast someone will arrive?

No. Arrival depends on the day and the job, and nobody can promise it from a web page. On the call, the plumber can say what to do while you wait.

Not sure your address is covered?

Call with your street address and ZIP. You will talk to a plumber, not fill in a form.
